Overview

This sets out the basic matters that should be included in any reference letter given to an employee who has resigned or whose employment has been terminated other than for misconduct. Every employee is entitled to a reference setting out the basic details of the employee's employment.

This document is not requried by law however LawLive recommends using it a matter of good business practice. A copy of this letter should be kept on the employee's file as well as in your general employment records.
